About this event:
Two acts, two full Edinburgh Fringe shows featuring Travestees’ regular MC Troy Hawke, and the award-winning Alasdair Beckett-King.
Troy Hawke – Tiles of the Unexpected!
Following a sellout run in 2018 in which he exposed Bingo as the deadliest sport in the country, the empty marxist promise of Poundland’s false advertising, and the truth behind Princess Diana, 1930’s throwback comedic investigator Troy Hawke returns, applying his Scrabble mentalism to uncover a dastardly 50-year deep undercover conspiracy related to the world’s largest furniture chain.
Alasdair Beckett-King
The award-winning Alasdair Beckett-King returns to this timeline with a dimension-hopping stand-up comedy show. Is a better world possible? Yes! It already exists, but you don’t live there. ABK makes the best of a bad timeline in this ramshackle jaunt through a multiverse of wonders. Also, Winston Churchill performs the best of Queen.
Travestees started life as a parody T-shirt company before segueing into a comedy club in June 2004 because the founder wanted to bring Milton Jones to town. After the show, many people asked when ‘the next one’ was, so another, with Tim Vine headlining, was organised for the following September.
Since then it has run once a month through the autumn, winter and spring months and has become a favourite of many national and international comics. Over the years we’ve seen acts such as Andy Parsons, Russell Howard, Russell Kane, Rhys Darby, Simon Evans, Bob Mills etc, many of whom have returned on more than one occasion.
The club continues to go from strength to strength and boasts a die-hard regular, appreciative crowd, who are there for the comedy and not for a party.
